One thing I enjoy about the setup of Amazon Kindle is the ability to write one shot and short character pieces as part of the Quadrant Universe. I can throw them out there for 99 cents and let the world get to know some of my stranger ideas.
One of those is certainly Ape Lincoln.
Every good universe of super powered fiction needs at least one great talking gorilla. Ape Lincoln serves that purpose for the Quadrant Universe, where he's a several decade old scholar, orator and righter of wrongs. He's a player that will have a larger role in future Quadrant Universe tales, but I wanted to introduce him to the world.
Ape Lincoln the short story gives an example of his public speaking skills and his fighting prowess as he stops a terrorist attack with the special abilities of a gorilla with the mind and intelligence of the Sixteenth President of the United States.
The name was a joke among myself and a friend. Following a viewing of the abysmal Tim Burton Planet of the Apes, we brainstormed a far better movie explaining the history of the altered Lincoln Memorial in that film. In the process, I realized that a silly name and an oddball idea could make a rather fun character to liven up the Quadrant Universe. Ape Lincoln was born.
Interested readers can read the short tale Ape Lincoln at Amazon for only 99 cents.
